About the Role

 Working in SOAS’s busy communications team and reporting to the Internal Communications Manager, the Internal Communications Officer will source and create high-quality, engaging written and visual content for all internal audiences. 

The role holder will liaise with colleagues across the university, to generate new content primarily for our students but also for our staff, and be part of planning and sharing  communications through our internal channels – these include the weekly student and staff newsletters,  SharePoint intranets, social media and digital screens across the campus.  

The role holder will also advise, plan and lead on specific campaigns which effectively communicate new initiatives and key messages to our students and staff.  

This role requires outstanding oral, written and digital communications skills, demonstrable experience of using SharePoint effectively, managing, editing and updating intranets and the ability to understand complicated information and communicate it in a clear and concise way.  

You will have a solid understanding of the role effective internal communication plays in a large organisation and the use and benefits of different communications tools and channels.  

You will be an adaptable, proactive, and creative team player who is able to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels and provide sound, evidence-based communications advice to a range of stakeholders. 

About the Department

The Department of Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) delivers a professional and responsive service to the University to ensure that student number targets are met and exceeded through the recruitment of well-qualified applicants.    

This includes development and delivery of exciting and engaging external and internal communications that bring to life the values and expertise of SOAS as university.    

The Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions team work closely with central professional services including Advancement, Partnerships, Human Resources, Registry, Student Engagement, IT, Legal and Governance, Estates, the Students’ Union, and all the Academic Department teams.
